Event Information
PLEASE NOTE THIS EVENT HAS NOW BEEN CANCELLED. AN EMAIL HAS GONE OUT TO ALL THOSE THAT HAVE ENTERED. ALTERNATIVELY IT CAN BE SEEN HERE.
We will be refunding everyone that has entered this ‘live’ event just as soon as our insurance money comes through. Please bear with us as this may take a couple of months or so. Alternatively, if you entered the ‘live’ event you can take part in the virtual run instead. There is no need to re-enter simply send us your ‘evidence’ of a 10k run by 31st May and we will send you your medal and, when we are financially able to do so, will refund the difference between the ‘live’ entry fee and the £12 virtual run fee.
An email did go out on 27th March regarding refunds. If you didn’t see it you can see it here.
This is an event to raise funds for Arthur Rank Hospice Charity and we would ask competitors to try to obtain sponsorship for their run. A suggested minimum figure to raise would be £25. However, sponsorship is entirely voluntary and is not a pre-requisite for entry to the run.
In addition we will be collecting food donations for the Foodbank at each of our runs. We will publish a ‘shopping list’ of food that is needed, as provided to us via the charity, just before each run. Donations are gratefully received but please donate items from the shopping list only.
Refunds will only be given if requested by the 19th April and will be subject to a 5% administration charge. Cancellations after the 19th April will not be entitled to a refund. Sadly, due to the administration involved we do not offer the chance to transfer your place.
Entry Conditions
This is a multi-terrain event and all competitors enter it at their own risk. While medical assistance is provided for the duration of the event no liability will be accepted by either hoohaah, the National Trust, the charity or individual race organisers for any injury incurred by entering this race.
Most race information can be found under the FAQs page. However, information specific to the Wimpole 10k is below.
Closing date for entry is 8th May 2020 or when the race limit has been reached whichever is the earlier. Race limits are sometimes put on our events because of weather conditions or other events and issues that might be taking place at the National Trust property.
Registration
The registration desk at the race start will be open from 8.00-9.15am where race numbers and chips should be collected. Please note race numbers and chips will not be sent out in the post prior to the event.
To collect your number please queue in alphabetical surname order behind the desk dealing with that letter. The desks will be marked.
Please allow sufficient time to collect and attach your chip prior to the run
The Course
The route is a multi-terrain course around the picturesque National Trust property, Wimpole Estate. The route will include stretches of footpaths, woodland and meadows. Wimpole is nestled in rolling countryside and some moderate hills form part of the course. Parts of the course may be muddy and all terrain running shoes are advisable.
A water station is located at approximately the 5km mark.
Click here for a view of the course map.
Parking
There is ample parking at Wimpole Estate although some parts may be on a field. Please follow the car park attendants instructions and take care entering and leaving the estate.
If you are a National Trust member you will be required to show your NT card when entering the estate so please bring it with you.
All cars parked in the car park do so entirely at their own risk and the race organisers or land owners accept no responsibility for any loss or damage to vehicles or valuables parked there.
For more information see the Wimpole Estate.
Prize giving
The presentation of prizes will take place between 10:30 and 10.45am. Please note that on occasions where there is a chip timing query the prize-giving can be delayed. Prizes will be awarded on the day to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd finishers. Age category prizes will be announced on our website and sent off after the event.
